On August 4-6, 2026, our union will be holding its 25th Convention in Orlando, Florida. The RWDSU Convention is the single most important convening of our union. At our upcoming convention we will look at our successes and at the challenges we have faced since we last met four years ago. It is the time when members gather to elect leadership and to set direction for the union for next four years. Our union has been and will always be about the needs of the membership. That is as true today as it has ever been. All of us in the union fight every day to protect members’ rights, to win better wages, and conditions and to build power for members at the workplace and in the community. That is our mission. That is RWDSU Power! The work is not easy. And there is no question that these are difficult times for many working people. Meeting the rising cost of food, housing, medical care and education has been nearly impossible for too many working families. Many of the rights and protections we have fought for over the years are under attack. And our country seems beset by division and anger and mistrust. Despite these challenges, the RWDSU has continued fighting for better jobs, safer workplaces, and a union voice for working people. We’ve won strong contracts. We’ve fought for and secured legislation that protects members’ rights. We’ve organized. We’ve stood up for worker justice and for safe communities. The work we all have done has built real power for the members of the RWDSU. We need each other if we are going to continue to build power for the union. We need to hear from one another. We need to listen to each other. We need to talk to one another. We need to be with each other. Together we have power, real power to meet any challenges we may face. Together we have RWDSU Power! — and that can make all the difference. Stay tuned for more news on the convention here.

RWDSU members working for the Berlin Borough street crew have overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement. The contract delivers critical improvements to wages, safety equipment, and family security for the workers who maintain the borough’s essential infrastructure. The three-year agreement is anchored by significant annual pay increases to help members keep pace with the rising cost of living. Under the terms of the new contract, workers will see a $1.00 per hour increase in the first year, followed by $0.75 per hour increases in both the second and third years. Beyond the general wage hikes, the contract recognizes the specialized skills required for municipal maintenance. The agreement includes increased differential pay for CDL holders and Backhoe operators, ensuring that members are fairly compensated for the technical expertise and certifications they bring to the job every day…

In a powerful show of solidarity, members of RWDSU Local 379 working at United Dairy in Lancaster, Ohio have voted unanimously to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement. The successful negotiations, led by RWDSU member Howard Moody and the Local 379 bargaining committee, concluded on March 18, 2026 with a contract that delivers significant economic gains and enhanced benefits for the workforce. The unanimous "yes" vote underscores the strength of the new three-year deal, which addresses key priorities for the membership, ranging from take-home pay to retirement security and workplace safety. “This contract is a testament to the hard work of our negotiating committee and the unity of our members at United Dairy,” said Howard Moody. “By standing together, we were able to secure a contract that not only improves the lives of our members today through wage and insurance wins but also protects their futures with increased pension contributions.”…

Local 338 members at First Student, which includes 170 school bus drivers, van drivers and monitors serving New Rochelle and Mount Vernon, New York public schools, have won a strong new contract with substantial gains across the board. The new agreement provides wage increases in each year of the agreement and significantly improves income stability, with guaranteed minimum hours increasing by 20-percent during the life of the contract. An additional guaranteed week of work was also secured, giving members the opportunity to substantially increase their annual earnings. The combined wage and schedule increases are projected to increase annual earnings by roughly 40-percent during the next two and a half years. Longevity and performance bonuses were both doubled, and members will now earn an additional $1 per hour when training new employees. The contract also doubles the 401(k)-employer match and adds an extra personal day…

Local 1102 is proud to announce the ratification of a new three-year agreement with Chartwells Compass Group at Iona University. This agreement covers the dedicated food service workers who keep students fed every day, ensuring their vital role on campus is respected and protected. This contract delivers unprecedented wage increases, the highest in the unit’s history, while fully maintaining the members' strong health and benefit coverage. In addition, workers secured an increased uniform allowance, a key quality-of-life improvement that reflects the professional value of their work. While these financial gains are historic, the agreement also addresses a modern challenge facing workers: the impact of technology in the workplace. Following the August 2025 opening of a new dining hall featuring AI-powered ordering kiosks and “Just Walk Out” grab-and-go technology, the union saw firsthand how automation can displace experienced staff.

The momentum at United Dairy is officially unstoppable. On April 1st, workers at the Fairmont, West Virginia, facility stood together and voted unanimously to ratify a brand-new contract that brings massive improvements to their pay, benefits, and working conditions. This big win in Fairmont comes just two weeks after RWDSU Local 379 members at the sister location in Lancaster, Ohio, secured their own landmark agreement and just a month after members in Marietta, Ohio secured theirs.
