RWDSU Southeast Council Members Support Students with Back-to-School Supply Drive
Members of the RWDSU Southeast Council at Autoneum in Aiken, South Carolina are making a difference in their community by ensuring local students have the tools they need to succeed. As the new school year began, Autoneum members came together to fill backpacks with school supplies for students at North Aiken Elementary School.
The effort was part of a community-wide school supply drive, with the RWDSU Southeast Council donating supplies alongside other local partners. Together, they provided essential items like notebooks, pencils, crayons, and backpacks to help relieve the financial burden many families face during back-to-school season.
“This is about more than school supplies, it’s about showing our community that working people and unions care,” said Edgar Fields, President of the RWDSU Southeast Council and RWDSU Vice President. “When students have what they need in the classroom, they can focus on learning, growing, and achieving their goals. We’re proud to be a part of that.”
Community service projects like this highlight the role RWDSU members play both on the job and beyond. By standing in solidarity with families in Aiken, Autoneum members demonstrated that unions are not only about fighting for better wages and working conditions, but also about building stronger, more supportive communities.
The RWDSU Southeast Council reaffirms its commitment to uplifting working families at work, at school, and everywhere in between. Solidarity means giving back, and this back-to-school season, RWDSU members are proud to have supported North Aiken Elementary students as they start the year off right.
