RWDSU Southeast Council Members Step Up for Local Students with Back-to-School Supply Drive

Union members of the RWDSU Southeast Council at Tyson Foods in Camilla, Georgia, proved once again that solidarity extends far beyond the plant floor.

Coming together at their recent monthly union meeting, members rolled up their sleeves for a shared cause: packing book bags filled with essential school supplies for the children of their co-workers and neighbors across the community.

Driven by a shared commitment to support local families, union members and stewards worked alongside Union Representative James Shackelford to gather donations, purchase backpacks, and gather the pencils, notebooks, and supplies needed for the upcoming school year. With classes starting on August 3, the collective effort ensures that local children can walk into their classrooms on day one ready to learn.

How to Support the Effort

The community drive is still underway! Union members are continuing to collect donations to reach as many families as possible before the first bell rings.

If you’d like to contribute supplies, please please reach out to James Shackelford of the Southeast Council. Every contribution helps support working families right here in Camilla.
