RWDSU members at General Mills in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will see significant improvements in wages, benefits, and workplace protections after ratifying a new three-year contract on November 14, 2025. The agreement, negotiated by the Local 110 bargaining committee, brings meaningful changes to nearly every corner of the plant reflecting months of member input and tough conversations at the table.
RWDSU Local 110 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, continues to lead with strong education, organizing, and preparation efforts across the worksites it represents. From steward trainings at Quaker Oats and onboarding new leaders at Coles Quality Foods, to bargaining prep at General Mills and honoring fallen workers on Workers Memorial Day, the Local is building power and solidarity across the board. With strong contract language, strategic planning, and strong partnerships like those with the University of Iowa Labor Center, Local 110 is proving that even in Right-to-Work states, union strength starts with informed, empowered leadership.
RWDSU Local 110 members who work at the General Mills and Quaker Oats plants in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, came out in October to support striking workers at the neighboring Cargill corn milling plant. Workers at the plant – members of Teamsters Local 238 – have been on strike since October 1.
Today, Local 110 of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), announced that over 500 workers at the General Mills processing plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa have ratified their first union contract. The worker-led negotiation committee worked tirelessly to secure a strong contract that stops the bleed out of long-held needed benefits. The workers in the bargaining unit handle production and maintenance at the facility.
