Local 379 Members at United Dairy Lancaster Unanimously Ratify New Contract
In a powerful show of solidarity, members of RWDSU Local 379 working at United Dairy in Lancaster, Ohio have voted unanimously to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement. The successful negotiations, led by RWDSU member Howard Mooney and the Local 379 bargaining committee, concluded on March 18, 2026 with a contract that delivers significant economic gains and enhanced benefits for the workforce.
The unanimous "yes" vote underscores the strength of the new three-year deal, which addresses key priorities for the membership, ranging from take-home pay to retirement security and workplace safety.
“This contract is a testament to the hard work of our negotiating committee and the unity of our members at United Dairy,” said Howard Mooney. “By standing together, we were able to secure a contract that not only improves the lives of our members today through wage and insurance wins but also protects their futures with increased pension contributions.”
Highlights of the new agreement include:
Comprehensive Healthcare: In an era of rising medical costs, the committee successfully maintained low insurance premiums while securing 100% coverage for members.
Strengthened Retirement: The contract includes vital increases to pension contributions, providing members with greater long-term financial security.
New Safety Provisions: The addition of safety bonuses recognizes the importance of maintaining a secure work environment and rewards members for their commitment to workplace safety.
Honoring Our Veterans: In a meaningful new addition to the contract, all Veterans will now receive a paid holiday on Veterans Day, honoring those who have served in the armed forces.
Wage Increases: Members will see a total of $2.10 in hourly wage increases over the three-year term of the agreement.
The new contract language, which was carefully negotiated to clarify and strengthen member protections, is now in effect. This victory at United Dairy Lancaster serves as a reminder that when workers stand together, we have the power to secure the raises, benefits, and respect we deserve.
