Local 379 Members at United Dairy Fairmont Unanimously Ratify New Contract
The momentum at United Dairy is officially unstoppable. On April 1st, workers at the Fairmont, West Virginia, facility stood together and voted unanimously to ratify a brand-new contract that brings massive improvements to their pay, benefits, and working conditions.
This big win in Fairmont comes just two weeks after RWDSU Local 379 members at the sister location in Lancaster, Ohio, secured their own landmark agreement and just a month after members in Marietta, Ohio secured theirs. By standing united across state lines, United Dairy workers are proving that solidarity pays off.
What RWDSU Local 379 Won
Led by RWDSU member Tim Clayton and the dedicated member-led bargaining committee, the Fairmont negotiations team locked in a contract that addresses the most important issues facing workers today:
Significant Wage Increases Right Away: The contract kicks off with a 10% wage increase in the first year, providing a significant boost to take-home pay right away.
Quality Healthcare Members Can Count On: In an era of skyrocketing medical costs, RWDSU Local 379 successfully secured 100% covered medical insurance with low premiums. This means peace of mind for members and their families without the financial hit.
Respect for Veterans: RWDSU believes in honoring those who served. This new agreement includes guaranteed pay for Veterans on Veterans Day, ensuring our veterans are recognized for their service.
Rewarding Specialized Skills: To recognize the technical expertise of RWDSU members, Local 379 won premium pay for Class A licensed drivers.
New Opportunities for Growth: The agreement creates a brand-new Lead Garage Mechanic position with a higher pay scale, opening up a new path for career advancement in the facility.
Strength in Numbers
Winning a unanimous "Yes" vote doesn't happen by accident. It’s the result of members staying informed, staying engaged, and showing management that they won't settle for anything less than a fair deal. Following the successful negotiations in Lancaster, the Fairmont ratification completes a powerful one-two punch for United Dairy workers this month and three-for-three this year across the company for RWDSU members. This isn't just a win for one shop, it's a win for the entirety of RWDSU Local 379.
