The new four-year contract delivers significant wage increases across the life of the agreement, ensuring economic progress and stability for the hardworking RWDSU members who power the production of one of America’s most iconic childhood brands. In addition to wage improvements, the contract maintains employee access to the RWDSU medical plan, a critical resource for workers and their families.
One of the standout achievements of this agreement is the inclusion of four new personal leave days for all employees – an important win that goes beyond compliance with the new Michigan Earned Sick Time Act. The company originally proposed converting existing vacation time to meet legal requirements, but the union pushed back and won new time off instead. The contract also offers greater flexibility in how a portion of existing vacation time can be used, further supporting workers’ needs for balance and rest.
Another major advancement is the strengthening of union security language, reinforcing the voice and power of the union on the shop floor. These improvements were made possible by a dedicated member-led bargaining team that fought tirelessly to secure gains that benefit every member—no matter their seniority or role.
“This contract is a testament to what we can achieve when we stand together,” said Aaron McNally, President of RWDSU Local 825 and a member of the bargaining committee. “It delivers real wins for every member, and it shows that Local 825 is stronger than ever.”
During ratification meetings, a strong sense of solidarity was felt among the membership. Workers with a wide range of experience at the plant came together to celebrate the union’s hard work and commitment. That solidarity is what translates to stronger contracts.
For the RWDSU members of Local 825, who proudly craft products enjoyed by families and children across the country, this contract is more than just numbers – it’s a recognition of their dedication and the quality they bring to a brand that has been part of American households for generations. It ensures that the people behind the product receive the respect, support, and security they deserve.
At a time when iconic American brands can’t compete on price they must rely on the skill, reliability, and pride of RWDSU members to maintain the legacy of their products. It’s more important than ever that those workers have a strong union contract—one that honors their contribution to products loved across generations so they can provide across their families generations.
