Prairie Farms Workers in Fort Wayne Secure Strong New Contract
Workers at Prairie Farms in Fort Wayne have ratified a powerful new four-year contract, bringing stability and security after weeks of uncertainty about the future of the plant.
The bargaining committee Alton Salary, Jonathen Smith, and Shane Eaton along with Indiana Joint Board President Geoff Stinson and RWDSU International Representative Patrick Hissong, successfully negotiated an agreement that delivers some of the biggest gains workers can remember at the facility.
Highlights of the new contract include:
Historic wage increases of more than 24% over four years
No additional increases to medical costs for workers and their families
Double-time pay on holidays
Improved vacation benefits
These gains are particularly critical at a time when workers everywhere are struggling with the rising cost of living. With inflation driving up the price of food, housing, and everyday necessities, significant wage increases like these ensure Prairie Farms workers and their families can better keep up and move forward.
“This contract is a testament to the strength of the committee and the solidarity of the members,” said Geoff Stinson, President of the Indiana Joint Board. “At a time when workers faced tremendous uncertainty, they stood together and won real improvements that will make a difference in their lives.”
By securing strong raises, protecting affordable healthcare, and ensuring better time off, Prairie Farms workers are sending a clear message: when we negotiate together, we win together.
