As shoppers head to Bloomingdale’s this holiday season, it was RWDSU Local 3 members who kept the sales floors running, customers supported, and the store thriving during one of the busiest times of the year.
On September 6, RWDSU members and leaders proudly joined tens of thousands of union members in the streets of New York City for the annual Labor Parade. Each year, the parade is a powerful reminder of the strength and solidarity of the labor movement, and 2025 was no exception.
For RWDSU Local 3, knowledge isn’t just power – it’s protection. At Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship store, the leadership team—President, Shaun Kavanagh, Secretary-Treasurer, James Eisenberg, and the Executive Board—make sure every member has their own copy of the union contract and understands what it means for them on the job. Although they do this every month, summer is especially crucial with many recent graduates entering the workforce and preparations already underway for a busy fall season, as holiday sales start earlier each year.
At the iconic Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th Street in New York City, union pride starts on day one. Thanks to RWDSU Local 3 United Storeworkers’ strong union contract, every new hire receives a personal introduction to their union rights, protections, and the power of collective action the moment they begin their journey on the job.
